Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Morne Du Plooy ("we", "us") collects through morneduplooy.co.za, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). It applies to visitors and to anyone who submits the contact form on this site.
Who's responsible for your information
Responsible party: Morne Du Plooy, trading as Morne Du Plooy / MDP
Email: dev@morneduplooy.co.za
Phone: 082 580 9935
Based in: Gauteng, South Africa
For anything about this policy or your information, contact us directly using the details above rather than through the contact form.
What we collect
When you submit the contact form, we collect:
- Your name and, if given, your business name
- Your email address and, if given, your phone number
- Your current website address, if you provide one
- Whatever you write in the message field, and the plan or service you enquired about
- The date and time of your submission
- Where you came from: the page you submitted from, the referring site, and any campaign parameters (UTM tags) present in the URL
- Your explicit consent to being contacted about your enquiry, and when you gave it
We do not use analytics or advertising cookies on this site. Fonts are served directly from this website rather than from a third-party font service, so loading a page does not hand your IP address to any outside provider for that purpose. No third-party tracking scripts run on this site at the time of writing.
Why we collect it
We use your information to:
- Respond to your enquiry and discuss the service you're asking about
- Prepare quotes, proposals or contracts if you want to go ahead
- Keep a record of enquiries for our own business purposes, such as following up and improving how we respond to leads
We process your information on the basis of the consent you give when you submit the form, and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries directed at us. We don't use your information for anything beyond what's described here, and we don't sell it.
How long we keep it
If your enquiry doesn't turn into a client relationship, we keep your submission for up to 24 months from your last contact with us, then delete it. If you become a client, we keep the information for as long as the service relationship lasts and for a further period afterwards as required for accounting, tax or legal purposes. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time - see "Your rights" below.
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run this site and respond to enquiries, and only to the extent needed for them to provide that service to us:
- Our website hosting provider, to serve the site and run the contact form
- Google Cloud (BigQuery), where enquiry submissions are stored so we can track and follow up on them - access is limited to us, through a password-protected admin panel
- Our email service, to notify us when a new enquiry comes in
We may also disclose information where required by law. We do not currently use these providers in a way that involves storing your information outside South Africa; if that changes, we'll update this policy and put appropriate safeguards in place as POPIA requires.
Security
Submissions are sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information against loss, unauthorised access, and misuse, in line with what POPIA requires of us as the responsible party.
Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct any information that's inaccurate or out of date
- Object to how we're processing your information, or ask us to delete it
- Withdraw consent at any time, without it affecting anything we did before you withdrew it
- Complain to South Africa's Information Regulator if you believe we've mishandled your information
To exercise any of these, email dev@morneduplooy.co.za. We'll respond within a reasonable time.
